Whether you’re a history buff or animal lover, or are in town looking at potential universities for your high school graduate, there are plenty of things to do and see nearby. You’ll find our hotel conveniently close to Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, home of the USS Yorktown, while the South Carolina Aquarium, MUSC, and other historic downtown attractions are just a short ferry ride away.

USS Yorktown at Patriots Point

Commissioned on April 15, 1943, the USS Yorktown was the tenth aircraft carrier to serve in the United States Navy. It was used in WWII and the Vietnam War, earning a total of 16 battle stars, before being decommissioned in 1970 and placed in reserve. In 1975, the historic ship was transferred from Bayonne, New Jersey to its current home in Charleston as the centerpiece of the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. This attraction is less than a half mile from our resort.

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC)

Open since 1824, MUSC is one of the oldest schools of medicine in the U.S. It features six colleges—for medicine, dental medicine, pharmacy, nursing, health professions, and graduate studies—as well as a public medical center and research center. MUSC is located in downtown Charleston, just 5.8 miles from our resort. Stop by and take a tour, or visit a loved one.

The aquarium’s largest exhibit—the Great Ocean Tank—holds more than 385,000 gallons of water and contains more than 700 sea creatures. There is also a Touch Tank where you can touch and feel several species of invertebrates, like hermit crabs, sea urchins, and Atlantic stingrays.

The aquarium is open daily from 9 am – 4 pm.  You can even take the Charleston Water Taxi from our docks to the Charleston Maritime Center, which is right next to the aquarium.
